x-entry

and only because i don't know what to title it, or if it has any concept at all to warrant one.

how do you do an entry, anyway? do you turn on the pc with a blog piece already in mind, or do you stare at the monitor all day long, waiting for the idea to pop out before the spam ad does?

i remember an essay i read a long time ago by lewis hyde which mentions of an art critic who said that picasso painted to be able to research - meaning, that he searched for something whenever he painted and the final outcome was what he searched for. picasso, however, disputed by explaining whatever he painted was what he found, not what he searched for.

so, are you a picasso blogger?

me, i'm probably just a picachu blogger.
-------

my friend c from hr just came back from vacation in argentina and was happy to note that buenos aires is slowly getting back to its feet after the economic collapse a few years back. i want to go to argentina. it is the europe of the south, so, going there is like visiting 2 continents at the same time.

on the other hand s and family will be pilgrimaging in medjugorge and is moving heaven and earth and tables and chairs fors us to join them to croatia. she handed me all these brochures and, no thanks to ignorance, i just found out that croatia is a fabulous country, with rich history and culture, and has a thousand islands scattered along the clear adriatic sea. so maybe i should consider going to croatia. but the problem is i already spent my money on books and cds and tennis balls and my wallet is down to, uh, .30 cents.

anyways here's my stash:

- the complete works of isaac babel
- the known world, edward p. jones
- robinson crusoe, daniel defoe (because i wanted to find out why jm coetzee is seemingly intrigued with the book and its author)

which, in addition to these brand new books given to me, are reasons enough not to go anywhere:

- battle cry of freedom, james mcpherson
- alexander hamilton, ron chernow
- articles of war, nick arvin
- old boys, charles mccarry
- the private life of chairman mao, zhisui li

next time i'll tell you about my cd stash. i'll probably call the entry 'y-entry' as in 'y-bother?'.

y ngaba?
